Kagagampi is a premium gampi paper crafted by successive generations of papermakers in Kaga, Ishikawa prefecture. This distinguished paper has been used for official government documents and backing sheets of gold and silver leaf, because of its impeccably smooth surface and remarkable resistance to deterioration. The sheets are formed on a bamboo screen covered by a shya, creating a distinct 'cloth' watermark.
